A dance project that explores body and stage materials as microsystems beyond our - the performance makers - control and questions boundaries between body and environment.
The body is a symbiotic society of cells and microorganisms, which are phenomenal and alive, but over which one has no complete control. The same can be said of materials.
Bergen/Bodø based japanese dance artist Yohei Hamada researches his own cultured movements as a phenomenon and throughout the coming year together with Danish scenographer Olga Regitze Dyrløv Høegh will create a symbiotic dance between body, self and environment.
Hamada and Høegh’s research on Japanese and Norwegian materials and craft traditions will premiere as a performance and installation in Bodø 2025 bringing forth the seemingly unnoticeable differences in body culture in East Asia and the Nordic Countries. They welcome you into their workspace during Ice Wet 2024 for work in progress performance of FormBodyMaterials.
