SIGNE BECKER s a freelance scenographer and artist. She holds a bachelor’s degree in scenography from the Norwegian Theatre Academy (NTA) in Fredrikstad (2006) and a master’s degree in visual culture from Oslo National Academy of the Arts (2008). Her artistic projects include theatre- and dance productions, as well as personal art projects, mainly textile works, sculptures and video.
In recent years, she has worked on a number of productions and since 2006 Becker has been a permanent scenographer at Verk Produksjoner. Their performances have been nominated for the Norwegian Hedda Award for performing arts, the performance Det eviga leendet (2011) and Stalker(2013) won the Norwegian Hedda Award for performing art, and Becker have been nominated three times for best Scenography and costume design. Since 2011 Becker has made several collaborations with choreographer Ingri Fiksdal and artist Ingvild Langgård, projects that have been (and still are) touring several countries. Beckers art work has been represented at exhibitions such as «Høstutstillingen» The Autumn Exhibition in Oslo, «Trøndelagsutstillingen» at Trøndelag Center for Contemporary Art in Trondheim, and The Norwegian Short Film Festival in Grimstad. Becker represented Norway at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2015. In January 2019 Becker started as a PhD student in artistic development work at Oslo Academy of the Arts, exploring the potential for silent drama in the space between the theater space and the gallery space.
INGVILD LANGGÅRD is a composer, singer and artist, educated at the Academy of Fine Art, Oslo. Langgård composes and performs music and sound for for stage, ensemble, film, as well as live performances and sound installations.
Recent projects include the production of a new music performance, SKELETON WOMAN, in collaboration with Signe Becker for Oslo International Theater Festival at Black Box Teater (2020), and music for the contemporary dance piece HEARTFELT by and with choreographer, dancer and harpist Magnus Myhr (2020). Langgård is also collaborating on new music with musician and producer Øyvind Røsrud, in the duo Runner´s High.
Under the name Phaedra, she has released two albums, The Sea (2011) and Blackwinged Night (2015), on the Norwegian avant garde label Rune Grammofon.
In collaboration with Signe Becker, Langgård produced and performed NEW SKIN, a piece in between concert, installation and stage performance, that premiered at the Ultima Festival for Contemporary Music 2017.
Langgård has also collaborated with choreographer Ingri Fiksdal and scenographer Signe Becker in several projects for stage, such as Cosmic Body, Night Tripper and The Orchard Ballads. These pieces have toured internationally to Chicago Contemporary Art Museum, Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (US), Contemporary Arts Center Cincinnati (US), brut-Wien (AUS), Kampnagel (DE), BUDA (BE), MDT (SE), Nordwind (DE), Baltoscandal (EST), Inkonst (SE), In Between Time (UK), ANTI festival (FI), LIMIT Festival (RS), Tanzhaus NRW (DE), Black Box Teater, BIT-teatergarasjen and Teaterhuset Avant Garden.
Her artistic works and live performances are shown in museums, galleries and venues such as The Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Kunstnerforbundet, Lydgalleriet, Pulse Art Fair and the Armory Show (US), the ØYA Festival, Moldejazz, Oslo Jazzfestival, The Munch Museum and Henie Onstad Art Centre.
Langgård co-founded the artist run gallery REKORD with Thora Dolve Balke and Eirin Støen in 2006, which was awarded Ny Musikk´s Pauline Hall Price 2009 for their work supporting new music in the Norwegian public. Langgård has been awarded several grants for her work, such as the Norwegian State´s Working Grant for young artists and Ingri Lindback Langaards Fund.
