This prøverommet presents a work-in-progress viewing of Taking Root, an experimental play initiated by Hamid Waheed, in collaboration with musician Kim Reenskaug (music alias 'WOW SAILOR') and visual artists Eli Mai Huang Nesse and Vilde Jensen. The play deals with displacement and history seen in the light of cactus plants and the landscape of a desert.

The event is produced as part of Landmark's satellite programme at Bergen Kjøtt.

Hamid Waheed (b. 1995) is a visual artist and filmmaker utilizing moving images, as well as writing and performing. Works have been presented a number of places, including Kunstnernes Hus Kino (Oslo), Nikolaj Kunsthal (Copenhagen) and Rencontres Internationales 2020, Paris. He’s also part of the curatorial collective ’HÆRK’ and has a BFA in Moving Images from Nordland College of Art and Film. Currently, he’s pursuing an MFA at the National Academy of the Arts in Oslo.

WOW SAILOR is the musical project by drummer and producer Kim Reenskaug. Basing his sound on a field recording diary going back five years resulting in noisy, yet deeply personal soundscapes and musical pieces. Often abstract but still rooted in the places where the recordings took place. Drawing on various analogue and digital techniques for sound manipulation WOW SAILOR has a distinct improvised style that is emotionally uncomfortable and confrontational to experience.
