Bettina Kogler is the new artistic director at BIT Teatergarasjen. Tine Rude is appointed as administrative leader.
Bettina Kogler (49) from Austria is the new artistic director at BIT Teatergarasjen. Kogler is an internationally recognised cultural leader who comes from the position as director of Tanzquartier Wien, one of Austria’s most important stages for contemporary performing arts.
Kogler is known for developing artistic visions and programmes characterised by diversity and experimentation – and she emphasises addressing societal challenges through contemporary art. With a large international network, Kogler sees great opportunities to strengthen BIT Teatergarasjen’s role both locally, nationally and internationally.
Over the past few months, the recruitment committee has worked hard to find the right candidates. One of the main focuses has been to look for experience and expertise that can strengthen the organisation internally, as well as prepare BIT for the move to Sentralbadet, which will be completed in 2026. Similarly, it has been a priority to find a leader who can continue BIT Teatergarasjen’s long history with artistic innovation at the forefront. BIT’s chairwoman of the board
Gunn-Vivian Eide says: “We are impressed by Kogler’s experience and leadership qualities, and we are confident that with her expertise she is the right person to take the theatre forward in an exciting and change-demanding process towards and into the first seasons with Sentralbadet Scenekunsthus.’”Kogler will take up the position of artistic director from 1 August, and will work closely with the new administrative leader.
