Imagine the dancing plague never left Europe. With the continuous institutionalization of dance, bodies kept on rejecting conformity and insisted on expressing themselves in outbursts. In Thrash Mob a choreographer has teamed up with ESC to dive into an alternative dance history of revolting bodies: from the 16th century dancing mania to the pogo mobs of the punk era and flash mobs – both the commercial 00s phenomenon and the activist movements. Together, the group investigates the interconnection between force and care to claim a space that was never meant for them.
