We welcome the upcoming holidays with ice cream and watermelons for you all, plus present our program of Fall 2025 – a cocktail of Norwegian and international performing art projects, daring and caring artists, radical and surprising works. The festival METEOR will hit Bergen in November this year, dedicated to contemporary theatre and performing arts. See you there, but first of all at Prøverommet!

Prøverommet presents a medley of new and exciting projects from electronic to acoustic music, unpredictable dance, and performance about a solar eclipse quest. Participating artists are: to you they are birds, to me they are voices in the forest (aka Daiyen Jone Castro & Knut Jonas Sellevold), vrang (aka Susanne Trinh & Nora Klungresæter), Lorena Olguín with Synne L. Erichsen, jessica harvey, and DJ club.feet (aka Jay van der Vlist).

to you they are birds, to me they are voices in the forest

The duo to you they are birds, to me they are voices in the forest explores improvised, imaginary landscapes in the hinterland between sound, music and nature. The project came about around a shared interest in natural soundscapes, field recordings, and the fourth world music of artists such as Jon Hassell and Roberto Musci. The name is more than a band name, and points towards an open concept – a continuous and open process where nature, people and music find themselves in a constant, improvised interaction. The duo uses field recordings that are looped and combined with electronic manipulation of live elements such as flute, voice and percussion.

The duo consisting of Daiyen Jone Castro and Knut Jonas Sellevold released their first cassette on Bergen-based label Vibrant Matter in May 2025, with a follow-up release planned in fall 2025 on Portuguese label Discrepant.

State of Mind by vrang

vrang will perform the work-in-progress audiovisual project State of Mind. Through the music, the listener slowly gets transferred from an entirely electronic sonic world to an acoustic landscape.

vrang is an experimental music duo based in Oslo consisting of Nora Klungresæter and Susanne Xin. With a shared fascination for unconventional sound sources, their compositions often incorporate the use of found objects, electronic manipulation, field recordings, and live instrumentation to create rich, textured layers that push the boundaries of what music can be.

FLIP A COIN by Lorena Olguín, with Synne L. Erichsen

Who am I? What am I doing here? What should I do? What does my mom want me to be? What does society want me to do? How does patriarchy wants me to behave? What do I want?… In times of doubt, flip a coin. Two women duet on sharing their powers of decision. How things are left to chance and how they turn out to be perfect, or not. The showing at Prøverommet is the outcome of a 2-week residency at Bergen Dansesenter, with dancer Synne L. Erichsen.

Lorena Olguín is a Mexican multidisciplinary performing artist based in both Guadalajara and Bergen, Norway. Within her training and artistic career she has developed skills and stage experience in improvisation, contemporary dance, performance, physical theatre and dance film. Her work is focused on improvisation inspired by inwardness, sensitivity and pleasure.

This Strange Light by jessica harvey

This Strange Light looks to the sky for reverberations from astronomical phenomena as a source of connection through space, time, memory, and mediated experiences as a mother and daughter embark on a road trip in the hopes to catch a total solar eclipse one last time.

jessica harvey (US) is an artist and writer exploring the fractures of bodies, place, and history. Her chapbook wax tomb/ lilies in flame was published with Walls Divide Press. Her work has been exhibited at Kunsthall Trondheim, and she is currently an Artist in Residence at USF Verftet.

club.feet

club.feet is the dancefloor-loving alias of BIT team member Jay van der Vlist, occasionally let out to play tunes. Usually caught playing house, but this time digging into the sunnier side of disco and funk.

club.feet engages the social architecture of the summer party through a durational sonic intervention — an ambient-mingling interface composed of disco relics, balearic gestures, and transnational funk phenomena. With a practice grounded in house and dancefloor logics, this set explores a more leisurely sonic register — funk-tinged, disco-driven, and seasonally attuned. What is Prøverommet?

Prøverommet has been running since 1998, originally in the bar of BIT’s former venue Teatergarasjen for 10 years, now popping up at various venues throughout the seasons (this will be the 42nd edition at Landmark!) It’s a social and low threshold environment to try out new artistic material in front of an audience using any medium: dance, theatre, poetry, visual art, music… The programme is open to everyone to apply or attend, with at least 10 events per year. Almost 2500 projects have been presented so far!
