Welcome to an artist talk with Shelmith Øseth

In connection with the performance Wakati at USF Verftet on March 22–23, we invite you to an artist talk with Shelmith Øseth.

The conversation is led by Irene Kinunda Afriyie. Irene works with public relations at Fargespill, is an author, and an engaged public debater. As a conference speaker and lecturer, she is known for addressing big and important topics – always with a dose of humor. With her unique ability to combine seriousness and laughter, she creates conversations that challenge.

Shelmith Øseth is a dancer based in Bergen and Oslo. Her movements are influenced by experience in contemporary dance and various traditional African dance techniques, such as indlamu and pantsula from South Africa, and especially isukuti, a dance from Kenya’s Luhya tribe. She trained at the dance program at Langhaugen Upper Secondary School in Bergen and at the New Education For Contemporary Dance folk high school in Härnösand, Sweden. Her focus lies on the social and political dimensions of dance as a pure expression. Read about the performance Wakati here.
