The foundation stone is being laid

There is a lot of activity at the construction site in the fall of 2024. New pieces are falling into place all the time.

On October 16, the foundation stone for Sentralbadet Performing Arts Center will be laid.

Sentralbadet was built in 1960 and was Bergen’s first swimming hall. The swimming facility was closed in 2014 when ADO Arena opened.
Sentralbadet has always been the city’s house. Hardly any Bergen resident hasn’t passed through its doors, whether it was to learn to swim, visit the Gingerbread City, or get a shot in the shoulder during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, Sentralbadet is well on its way to being transformed into a modern house for performing arts. A new and long-awaited home for BIT Teatergarasjen and Carte Blanche, which will be the building’s primary users. A new venue is being given back to the people of Bergen, for residents, audiences, and the city’s performing arts actors.
From 2027, the building will be filled with a full arts program. Additionally, performances will begin as early as 2026.

The foundation stone laying ceremony will take place:
Time: Wednesday, October 16, 2:00-2:30 PM
Place: Sentralbadet, Teatergaten 37

City Council Leader Christine Meyer and Cultural Councilor Reidar Digranes will lay the foundation stone for the new Sentralbadet Performing Arts Center.
