As a producer, you will maintain close communication with artists and companies, ensuring that artistic ambitions are realised within our framework. We present projects with a high level of professionalism and hospitality, from the initial idea meeting to the final evaluation. We use various venues throughout Bergen, making collaboration and adaptation with different stakeholders a key part of the role.

Key tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Close dialogue with artists/companies regarding all practical needs, including technical requirements, travel, accommodation, and necessary permits
  • Scheduling rehearsal- and performance plans
  • Communicating with venues to identify needs, internal procedures, and challenges
  • Coordinating with the technical team for smooth technical planning and execution
  • Collaborating internally on text, information, and editorial content

About BIT Teatergarasjen

Founded as Bergen International Theatre Festival in 1984, BIT has developed into a recognised programming theatre over the past 40 years. We produce and present contemporary theatre, dance, performance, and related art forms from local, national, and international fields, with a particular focus on projects that stimulate international and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Beyond our artistic program, BIT creates events and initiatives that engage a broad audience and foster dialogue within the professional community.

In addition to our seasonal program, we organize two alternating biennials: Oktoberdans (focused on dance) and Meteor (focused on theatre), along with Prøverommet, our platform for testing new artistic material.

Until our move into Sentralbadet Scenekunsthus in 2026, performances will be held at various venues in Bergen, primarily at Studio USF or Studio Bergen.

From our Vision:

BIT paves the way for artists and projects that lift and develop new perspectives with significance for Bergen, Norway and the world. Being both daring and caring at the same time, we challenge the established perception of what performing arts are and for whom.
