With summer right ahead of us, we want to show you what you can already look forward to this fall with us!
Our first three performances from Ofelia Jarl Ortega, Jassem Hindi & Sina Seiffee, and Ian Yves Ancheta together with ESC Bergen’s Youth Company for Contemporary Dance will search for new rhythms, since rhythm is that what makes us move, swing and tick.
From 13 to 22 November METEOR, our biennale festival for contemporary theatre and performance, will present a vivid mix of Norwegian and international artists over ten festival days.
Furthermore, our programme till the end of the year is dedicated to the relationship between Europe and Asia, using Asia as mirror to reflect our attitudes towards work and our gaze at the female body – with performances by Olga Regitze Dyrløv High & Yohei Hamada, Jingyi Wang and Mirte Bogart.
To widen the radius of each of the performances, we offer a deeper insight into the ideas behind with artist talks, exhibitions and workshops. Read more under each of the performances.
And on top of that, we also offer five new editions of Prøverommet that test out new artistic material from many different artists – and we continue our new formats to get to know the audience, collaborators, neighbours and the professional community even better!
We are looking forward to seeing you!
Casino – titled after the Cuban name for salsa and salsa club – takes place at a fictional Latin American club for couples dancing. It explores the relationship with salsa, which became very important for the Latin American diaspora. The music is heard in the engagement of the dancers and the sounds of their steps.
A folk dance for our times – steeped in the viscous darkness of ancient dances, oil and poetry. With doom metal, pre-Islamic iconography, Levantine maqams, West Asian death poetry, and cursed Norwegian tunes. The burden of our times expressed in broken collective memory.

The dancers move in and out of rhythm, drawing the audience into a living choreography. A percussionist performs live on stage, and the set design plays along. The pulse is impossible to ignore, and the urge to nod or stomp along to the beat is irresistible.

A solo performance that challenges the way we look – shaped by history, culture, and context – at the (naked) (female) body. Moving between seduction and discomfort, it questions the norms behind desire, exposure, and consent.
Together with dancer Even Eileraas and musicians Sverre Breivik and Vetle Junker, Ole Kristian Tangen develops a new performance at Samvirket in Fjaler. Then they travel to Bergen to show an excerpt from the process at Prøverommet.

This autumn, Prøverommet will travel to a mix of new and long-time collaborators around Bergen.
It begins at Bergen inkluderingssenter, an adult education centre and community hub in Landås. Then the programme moves to Bergen Internasjonale Kultursenter for the first time since 2017, where a mix of freeform performance and music projects will resonate in the space. At Bergen Kjøtt, home of the GRIP technician training initiative, Prøverommet will be a testing space both on-stage and behind-the-scenes. This year’s METEOR festival edition takes place at Visningsrommet USF, with a focus on theatre. Prøverommet concludes at Studio USF, USF Verftet, where BIT’s artist in residence will present an excerpt from their new dance piece, alongside other short experiments spanning various artistic fields.
