Welcome to an Artist Talk with Catol Teixeira

In connection with the performance The Skin in Between the Fingers showing at Østre on May 9 and 1o, we invite you to an artist talk with Catol Teixeira. The artist talk will be led by Kaeto Sweeney from ASTERISK.

Catol Teixeira is a performer and choreographer born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1993, who has lived and worked in Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Salzburg, Berlin, and is currently based in Geneva, Switzerland. Their approach to bodies is entangled with a constant perception of cultural-spiritual-political-organical inscriptions in the flesh. They dance as a way to not forget that bodies are a place of crossing, negotiating between time, a threshold of memories and a field of moving desires.

Kaeto Sweeney (b. 1993. He/him) is an artist based in Bergen.

Kaeto is particularly interested in symbols of freedom from a queer lens. He is a film maker and party maker whose work is shaped around the ways we tell stories and the way we receive them, often referring to queer and trans narratives. In his work creating intimacies and understanding the society from a personal point of view is central.

Kaeto is the founder and artistic director of queer platform: ASTERISK

ASTERISK is a Bergen-based queer interdisciplinary event series and platform founded by artist Kaeto Sweeney in 2020. By celebrating local and international queer artists and performers, it serves as an alternative event/production project aimed at creating safer spaces for queer and trans people within institutions and public spaces. Here, they have the opportunity to showcase interdisciplinary artistic works such as happenings, performances, sound and visual art, film, and everything in between.
