Shelmith Øseth is a dancer based in Bergen and Oslo. Her movements are influenced by experience in contemporary dance and various traditional African dance techniques, such as indlamu and pantsula from South Africa, and especially isukuti, a dance from Kenya’s Luhya tribe. She trained at the dance program at Langhaugen Upper Secondary School in Bergen and at the New Education For Contemporary Dance folk high school in Härnösand, Sweden. Her focus lies on the social and political dimensions of dance as a pure expression.
