Oktoberdans 2024 is now just two weeks away! The festival opens on Wednesday 16 October at Studio Bergen, USF Verftet and Hordaland Kunstsenter, and will run for eleven days. On Saturday 5 October at 17.00 we invite you to a kick-off and programme launch at Hordaland Kunstsenter. At this event, we will unveil our brand new festival programme, show photos and videos and give a low-key presentation of this year’s performances and events.

This year’s edition of Oktoberdans is a range of performances and expanded formats that stretch, speculate, provoke and redefine. In some works, notions of new futures where art and politics meet are easy to trace. Other works are more lingering, sensory experiences, or tactile moments where materiality and nature around us are concrete and tangible.

We seek art that opens up new ways of understanding and experiencing the world. We warmly welcome you to eleven days filled with shared experiences, meals, conversations and performances that allow us to fantasise about the world we want to help create. Come and visit us this afternoon! We offer a cosy get-together and some simple refreshments on your way through the city.

The programme for Oktoberdans 2024 has been developed by the curatorial group at BIT Teatergarasjen – Ingrid Ellestad, Karoline Skuseth and Kristina Melbø Valvik – based on agreements and wishes from former artistic and managing director Sven Åge Birkeland, suggestions from former artistic and managing director Tang Fu Kuen and with contributions from newly appointed artistic director Bettina Kogler.
